Todd Braun - Owner Biography

Todd Braun began his racing career behind the wheel in one of the grass root divisions of racing, the ARCA Truck Series.  After a successful year of competition in which he finished 8th in the point standings, Braun decided to make the transition from driver to team owner by forming Braun Racing in 2002.  In his first season as a team owner, Braun recruited up-and-coming driver, Chad Blount, to compete in the ARCA Re/Max Series and quickly found success in his new role with Blount finishing second in the point standings and winning the prestigious “Rookie-of-the-Year” award.

In 2003, Todd Braun increased his presence in the racing world by running a limited schedule in the NASCAR Busch Series with such drivers as Casey Mears, David Stremme, Jamie McMurray and Chad Blount. With a solid foundation in place, Braun expanded his operation the next season to run full-time in both the NASCAR Busch Series and ARCA Series, fielding cars for drivers David Stremme, Jamie McMurray and Ryan Hemphill. That year, McMurray brought home the first NASCAR Busch Series win for Braun Racing at North Carolina Speedway. In addition, Stremme posted 14 top-10’s and set a new track qualifying record at the Milwaukee Mile while Hemphill impressed the ARCA world with six wins in just 13 races.

In 2005, Braun again placed a myriad of drivers behind the wheel of his No. 32 entry including Jorge Goeters, Ron Hornaday, Chad Blount and Jason Leffler.  He ended the season with five top-five and 12 top-10 finishes and one Busch pole.  More important, was the successful partnership between Braun and Leffler, who would return in 2006 as the sole driver of Braun’s No. 38 entry, sponsored by Great Clips, and ended the season with three top-fives, seven top-10’s and two Busch pole awards.

In 2007 Braun made history when Jason Leffler drove the No.38 Great Clips Camry to Victory Lane. That win marked the Toyota Camry’s first Busch Series win! Fielding two full-time Camry entries, Braun’s team brought home three poles, 10 top-five and 22 top-10 finishes.  Leffler and the No.38 Great Clips team also finished the year third in the season ending championship point standings, the best overall finish for a Braun Racing team to date.

The 2008 season looks to be Braun’s best shot yet at the NASCAR Nationwide Series title.  Braun has once again aligned himself with championship manufacturer Toyota, and will field two full-time entries for the second time in his career. Jason Leffler will drive the No. 38 Great Clips Toyota Camry and Brian Vickers, Kyle Busch, and Denny Hamlin will pilot the No. 32 Toyota Camry, sponsored by Dollar General, ABF U-Pack Moving, Hass Avocados from Mexico and Beringer.
